Shopping!

I went shopping today. Yes, I had the need to say it, like the title isn't a dead giveaway. But anyway. I haz bought stuff. Let me show you them.
WARNING: I like brown. I really really like brown. It's bordering on obsession.

This is a sweater. Yes, I point out the obvious.

These are my new boots. Now I have to buy capri pants so I can show the plaid pattern to the world.

The bag. It is HUGE. I've owned it for 7 hours and I already love it.

This is the most expensive pair of shoes I have ever bought. In my life. Ever. It's love, people. I can't wait to wear them somewhere. Too bad I don't go out...

Aww.

My sister is really, really beautiful.

Sadly, not too bright...

New Jacket

I have a new jacket. And I'm madly in love with it.

And uhm.. yeah, that's me taking pictures of me in the mirror because it felt kinda stupid to ask someone to photograph me while I'm wearing a jacket in my room. So yeah. Go laugh at me now.

Guess The Song

Step 1: Put your iTunes player on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 32 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Let everyone guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Bold the songs when someone guesses correctly.
Step 5: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!

1. Give me one reason to stay here
2. Remember when I dove into the crowd
3. There you go
4. Now that I've lost everything to you
5. All around me are familiar faces
6. While the choir sang, Ave Maria
7. You can dance every dance with the guy
8. I'm gonna be here for you baby
9. Early in the evening just about supper time
10. The rain falls down, falls on me
11. Get back on track, pick me up some bottles of booze
12. Lay where you're laying

16. Hey lady, you got the love I need
17. I never seem to find a reason
18. We'll be fighting in the streets with our children at our feet
19. I keep a close watch on this heart of mine
20. You think your days are uneventful
21. You took your coat off and stood in the rain

Or Should I Say Vagblocking?*

I'm trying to go over the new Kings of Leon's album but every time I start listening to music, my sister decides it's TV watching time. So I like Sex On Fire and Use Somebody so far, but I never got to the second half of the album.

I also tried to watch Wanted today but remember my family that is at home this week? Well. They then decided it was just the time to do a great autumn cleaning of our room. You should know that when I say they, I mean my Mother and my sister (That film cannot be that important! Uh... Excuse me but James McAvoy? Is important.). They also made my Dad do stuff. He's making a closet for the hallway and then he's gonna have to paint it. The hallway not the closet. Except that he's also gonna have to paint the old hallway closet and move it to their bedroom.

You know that feeling when you have no plans for the day but you wake up at 7am anyway and then, having realised you've got nothing to get up for, you just roll over and continue sleeping? Mmmm yes. Except no. Because my parents tend to get up a little after 7 and then have loud conversations over coffee. Combine that with a tiny house made of paper-thin walls and you get me up at 7.30. And the best part: the surprise on my Mom's face accompanying the sentence: Why are you up so early?!

But then again, maybe it's not them. Maybe I get up at 7.30 because I go to sleep at 10.30. Now, why would I be doing that when I have nothing to get up for? Because I had to promise I'll be turning the PC off when my sister goes to sleep. And that's early. It also explains my sudden disappearances from chats. And you know, I made my peace with my family cockblocking (or should I say vagblocking?) my private life in reality, but to be depriving me of my virtual life as well?! Seriously.

*No, you're not crazy. The title has got nothing to do with the post.

Silver Lining

... to having my family home is that I get to witness convos like these:

Sister: You know, you really have something gay to you. You dance like a real faggot.
Her BF (mutters under breath): Faggot's gonna stick it to you.

Monday 22 September 2008

*headbang*

My whole family. Is going to be. At home. For the entire. Week.
Mom, Dad, sister... They all somehow managed to UNINTENTIONALLY get their vacations in the same week.
Why, God, why?!

As A Character In The Play Said: Holy Mary Mother Of God!

That was. So. Fucking. Awesome. Three hours of pure pleasure. It's magic on the stage, I'm telling you. This particular cast, they're made of awesomesauce.
From the very beginning we were laughing and clapping and enjoying the play so, so much. The theatre was packed. We've heard they don't remember such a huge interest for a play as it was for this one, and I can tell you - completely justified.
It's a play in two acts, the first one starts with the audition and rehearsals for the play, and then the second act is the play in the play. The "actors" are pretty much the bottom of the barrel, only hired cuz no one else auditioned. LOL They're a bunch of freaks with lots of personal issues, but it's awesome to watch how they become a team and friends for life through the production. The girl, LMAO, oh she's fantastic. First of all, she bursts in blabbing a mile a second in Slovenian which no one understands, and she has this retarded brother who follows her around and then just stands there and drools. Until we find out he can play piano and then he's hired too. LOLOLOL And the guy who plays the main character keeps borrowing money from everyone, he's a total schmuck, LOL. Then he fails to return the money to this one guy ("Are you a Serb?" "No, I'm not." "You can tell us, nothing to be afraid of." "Us Serbs are not afraid." Bwahahahaha.) and then his wife gets beaten up, but when the schmuck apologises, he goes: "Oh don't sweat it, it's all good." So absurd, so funny, so awesome!
And the snake! Ahahahahaha! One guy plays a rattle-snake at one point. He has a little box with something in it and he shakes it to produce the sound of a rattle-snake's tail and pouts his lips and hisses, and OMG moves in the funniest way! He got ovations in the middle of the play for it. (God, I know my words are so insuficient!)
Then there's a forty years old guy living with his mother, who's a total suck-up to the director (the director of the play, Saša Anočić [Živko's older brother], also plays the director of "the play"). His mother keeps calling him on his cell and then he sends her kisses over the phone. LOLOLOL
Živko is... Well, fabulous. Kinda shy and lost, but then woah!, he grabs a guitar and ON TOP OF IT ALL, HE PLAYS THE GUITAR! Be still my heart, because HE'S SINGING TOO! OK, they all sing, and the girl is fantastic. This one guy plays 4 different instruments in the show (the one who's married with 5 kids). They just kept astonishing me over and over again.
There's a rumour of them coming to Osijek again in January and I am so going if they do!
I took some pictures but they're horrible cuz I couldn't use flash and we were pretty far and high but fuck it, I know it's him in the pics. So anyway:
That's me. (I know, no shit.) See how far I was from the stage?

Živko... *sigh*

He plays guitar... *deeper sigh*

Plus, he's so hot... *brb, taking a cold shower*

OK, so my pics are horrible so here are some good ones stolen from Facebook:
And now we play dead. LOL

Tough gig, being the only woman in the play. LOL

Seriously, do you see that body?! Hellooo, pecs!

We interrupted the scene with applause when they did this. So great.

Oh and I almost forgot to mention the music that was just great! Blues and rock and what not. Fave tune? "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" - CCR FTW! Also, "The Last Time" by The Blind Boys of Alabama, "Well Well Well" also by them, "The Tennessee Waltz"... Just all of it was amazing, including their performances.

Tonight!

Finally it's Saturday! Kauboji tonight! OMG I'm so excited and can't wait for it. Alas, I've got nothing to wear. Seriously. All I have is jeans. How can I wear jeans to the theatre, how??! the only skirt that was suitable is ruined. The old washing machine managed to bleach out the colour in two places so now there are white spots on dark brown. *furious* And I own no fancy pants. I so fail as a girl. I guess that's another item for my shopping list: fancy pants.

LOL Major Torchwood fail! In the first season we found out Jack Harkness took the name of a captain Jack Harkness after the guy died in WWII. Last night I saw the last two episodes of season 2 and there were these flashbacks to everyone's past and there's Jack, introducing himself as Cpt. Jack Harkness some time in the 19th century! Ahahahahahaha. Inconsistent much? But I still love the show and can't wait for season 3. Which is only gonna have 5 episodes. *sadface* Why the sudden mini-series form, I'll never know.
At least Supernatural is back and it's awesome. Unlike Prison Break which is painful to watch yet impossible to quit. *sigh*

Classes start on October 6. I'm mildly excited about that. It'll be good having some responsibilty and work to do again but when I think of getting up at 6.20am to a cold, dark morning, I just DO NOT WANT. I want summer back!

Next week my sister is going to be on vacation. Do I sense upcoming homicide? (Btw, is it still fratricide if we're both girls?)

Cleaning Up

OK, readers, you who are still here. The time has come for me to clean up my readers list. So if you want to still be able to read, leave me a comment.
Obviously, I know who reads, Lindy, Neri, Darth, Bel, Cvilim, Van, Nic. You're good.
If there are others, you have to let me know or you're off the list. Simple as that.
The post will be up for about a week.

New Haircut, New Hairdye

And before you ask, yes. I did get a haircut just so I'd have something to take pictures of. :P

Photographing!

I promise, this won't turn into one of those pictures-only blogs. But for now, please, bear with me. Oh and the editing is fun! Not to mention that it prettifies EVERYTHING! And now, the story behind the pics.

I went to the city today to meet with Nikolina. You remember my BFF, right? So here I am, ready to go, but before - *SNAP*!

Oh hello, city! Long time no see, since last Friday. Good to see the cathedral's still standing.

The fountain on the main square is on. Good. Gives me something to photograph while I wait for Nikolina.

Running into high school friends, especially the one you shared desk with for 3 years, is great! Hi, Jelena, good to see you! What's up? How's life?

Finally, she arrives. No she wasn't late, I was early.

Gorgeous BFFs are gorgeous.

And the new haircut!!! Eeeeeee!

So... How's love life? Any new jailbaits to tell me about?
There were, but you didn't hear that from me.

My Library

Hi! Welcome to my room! LOL What, did you think I wouldn't be photographing random things in my room and telling you about them now?
I don't know about you, but the first thing I check when I'm in someone's home for the first time is their book shelf. I can't help it, I'm drawn to books. I like to compare tastes and make mental notes on what I'd like to borrow to read.
So here you go, you're welcome to check out my book shelf. And then laugh at me for my poor taste and undying love for chick-lit.

1. F. X. TOOLE - Million Dollar Baby: a collection of short stories I bought just cuz.
2. CHARLES DICKENS - Hard Times: required reading for my lit class (like I'd be reading that in original, no less, otherwise).
3. ZIZOU CORDER - The Truth: a book I was randomly presented with by a girl from my class (I'm not for sale. Unless you buy me a book.).
4. JANE AUSTEN - Sense and Sensibility: yeah, it's AustEn, not AustIn, and don't you be messing it up.
5. WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE - Tragedies: why I didn't buy Comedies as well, I'll never know.
6. JANE AUSTEN - Pride and Prejudice: the best novel she ever wrote. I dare you not to adore Elizabeth. And dashing Mr Darcy, of course.
7. HELEN FIELDING - Bridget Jones's Diary: read it forst when I was 17 and fell in love with her and chick-lit instantly. The relationship is still strong.
8. DAN BROWN - The Da Vinci Code: it's fiction, OK? Accept that.
9. DAN BROWN - Angels and Demons: written before The Da Vinci Code and it's actually much better, in my opinion.
10. DAN BROWN - Deception Point: a good thriller, but it didn't blow my mind.
11. NICK HORNBY - High Fidelity: what can I say about this book that you haven't heard a thousand times from me before? So much love for it.
12. MILJENKO JERGOVIĆ - Sarajevski marlboro: a short story collection. You're not missing out on anything.
13. RENATO BARETIĆ - Pričaj mi o njoj: one of my favourite contemporary Croatian authors wrote another realistic and beautiful love story.
14. PAOLO COELHO - The Alchemist: you know the story.
15. PAOLO COELHO - The Pilgrimage: not my favourite of his books.
16. PAOLO COELHO - Veronika Decides to Die: now this one I adore. Don't let the title deceive you - its message is pure optimism.
17. PAOLO COELHO - The Fifth Mountain: a story of impossible love showing us nothing is impossible.
18. PAOLO COELHO - Eleven Minutes: one of my favourites, talks about the importance of sex. (Yeah, yeah, I get the irony.)
19. PAOLO COELHO - By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept: what would you sacrifice for love?
20. ANTE TOMIĆ - Građanin pokorni - another contemporary Croatian author I love for his sarcasm and dry humour. He puts into words what I think.
21. ANTE TOMIĆ - Ljubav, struja, voda i telefon - love stories can be bitter, yet funny to read about.
22. ANTE TOMIĆ - Što je muškarac bez brkova?: brilliant story about a woman who falls in love with a priest. So so funny, and the movie is awesome as well.
23. NICK HORNBY - Fever Pitch: it'll turn you into an Arsenal fan. It has me.
24. NICK HORNBY - A Long Way Dow: his best novel, in my opinion. Depressing, yet funny. Brilliant.
25. HELEN FIELDING - Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination: Olivia is not as loveable as Bridget but is just as fun to read about.
26. NICOLA KRAUS and EMMA MCLAUGHLIN - Citizen Girl: chick-lit. I like it. Sue me.
27. NICOLA KRAUS and EMMA MCLAUGHLIN - The Nanny Diaries: oh come on! It's funny!
28. PLUM SYKES - Bergdorf Blondes: this... is utter crap. If the guys from Farenheit 451 came today, I'd hand this in with no resistance whatsoever.
29. KAREN JOY FOWLER - The Jane Austen Book Club: it's a book about a bunch of women that like to read Jane Austen's novels. How could I have resisted?
30. NICHOLAS SPARKS - The Notebook: I dare you not to cry.
31. JANE AUSTEN - Emma: my favourite of her novels. Yes, Pride and Prejudice is better but since when is literature to be judged objectively?
32. HELEN FIELDING - Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason: Bridget returns insane as ever and I fall in love a little deeper.

33. CROATIAN-ENGLISH DICTIONARY: my first. Can you tell?
34. THE BIBLE: a gift from my Grandma. All right, I just took it with me. Does stealing the Bible counts as sin?
35. DRAŽEN STOJČIĆ - Zabranjeno područje: a book a boy from my high school wrote when he was 17. He wrote about his classmates. If there was ever a book an entire school read, that's the one.
36. HARRY KULLMAN - A Secret Trip: a children's book. Quite possibly something I stole from someone. You know, borrowed and then never returned? And have I told you I never borrow my books to people?
37. MARIA GRIPPE - A Scarab Flies at Sunset: this book scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. It's awesome.
38. SIDNEY SHELDON - The Other Side of Midnight: this I didn't steal. A friend told me to keep it.
39. ENID BLYTON - Five Go Down to the Sea: I think I read all of 21 books about Famous Five. How about you?
40. AUGUST ŠENOA - Zlatarovo zlato: such a tragic story, such a wonderful book.
41. ASTRID LINDGREN - Pippi Longstocking: who doesn't know this story?
42. JOHANNY SPYRI - Heidi: same goes for Heidi.
43. AGATHA CHRISTIE - The Mysterious Affair at Styles: a birthday gift from Sonja.

44. My sister's and my high school yearbooks
45. CROATIAN GRAMMAR
46. THE GRAMMAR OF CROATIAN LANGUAGE
47. MICHAEL MCGARRITY - The Judas Judge: a birthday gift from Mom
48. I LOVE CLASSICS - a collection of abridged stories, one of the first books I ever owned. It survived the war with me and returned home.
49. MARIJA JURIĆ ZAGORKA -Vitez slavonske ravni: a history/love story novel by one of the first Croatian female authors.
50. ELIZABETH KOSTOVA - The Historian: a birthday gift by request from my sister.
51-57. J. K. ROWLING - The Harry Potter Series

58. J.K. ROWLING -Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: the English version. Because I couldn't have waited for 3 months for the translation.
59. CECILIA AHERN - P.S. I Love You: shut up.
60. CROATIAN ORTOGRAPHY

FYI, it took me an hour and a half to make this post.

Look At My Shiny New Toy!

You guys! I bought me a camera! A real digital camera! I'm so excited about this! (What would explain all the exclamation marks.) I can't wait for the battery to charge so I can start photographing stuff. And when I say stuff, I mean people. I expect to annoy the shit out of everyone in the next few days till I get bored of it. LOL
But of course, there had to be some trouble about it. See, I took Jelena who photographs weddings and stuff with me, for her expertize. So we went to a store, and we took our time, compared a few cameras and decided this one the one for me. Yay! I paid, grabbed my bag happily and strolled off into the sunset.
Well, to a pizzeria for lunch, really. Once we were there, Jelena took the camera out of the box to show me how to use it. Only it wasn't the camera I had picked. They gave me a different model! Stoopid people in the stoopid store! We had to go back to exchange it. "You gave me the wrong camera", I said to the woman and you won't believe what she said to me. She said: "Did you want a different colour?" Yeah, that's it. This one's black and I really wanted a pink one. What the fuck?! "I want the one with chargeable batteries, you moron, not this crap you gave me instead!" (Yeah, OK, I didn't say the part with the moron and the crap cuz I'm nice like that but I was thinking it.) So the dude that actually sold me the camera comes and goes: "That's not the camera you bought." No shit, Sherlock. But all is well that ends well. They gave me the right camera and here it is, my shiny new toy:

Bits'n'Pieces

An unknown person just sent me a friends request on Facebook. It's a girl from NY with a vaguely Croatian surname. Now, I know there are people who like to add random people from the countries their parents came from, but my question is WHY??! Hopefully, I'll find out soon enough because I sent her a message saying: Why do you want to add me when I don't know who you are?

I got a random period. Random because my last period came on August 25. Notice the problem. Randomly bleeding from my vajayjay every 10 days is not agood sign. Sure it's been known to happen, but it's usually a sign of great stress in my case. And here I was thinking I was happy.

On Monday I saw Mamma Mia! with Sonja. It was FABULOUS! OMG the movie is so lame, it has pretty much no story whatsoever, and most of the actors (apart form the girl who plays, well, the girl) can't sing to save their lives. Yet, it's AWESOME! So colourful, so shiny, sparkly, glittery, psychodelic, singing, loud, funny, hilarious, absurd, pointless! And on top of it all - Colin Firth is gay! LOLOLOLOLOLOL I had an awesome time. But then, I like ABBA so maybe that's that.
Before the movie we went to dinner in a restaurant where students can use their cards when they eat. Then Sonja told me students get a discount on theatre tickets as well. LOL So all in all, grilled calamari, french fries, grilled mushrooms, a bottle of Coke and a movie ticket came out to HRK28,50 ($5,62)!!!!!!!! Yeah, that's cheap even here. So next time you're in town, dinner's on me.

Randomness Or How I Got A Life

I've been clicking on New Post a lot in the past few days but every time I'd found myself with nothing to say. I still got nothing but I figured I'd let you know I was still alive.

Studying. That sucks as ever.
Watching Torchwood. That's just keeps getting better.
Meeting people. That's somehow easier since I've been at Krk.

I was at Puki's (from the R+ forum) for a BBQ yesterday. There were 8 of us and it was nice. Comfortable. And the food was good. There were pics taken for you to see. There were videos made with the close-ups of my boobs but I doubt I'll ever have a copy of that. Sorry, pervs.

Ivana and Andrej

Goran, Ivan, Igor, Miljenko and Ivan

Miljenko and me

Miljenko, Ivan and Andrej: boys with guitars = <3>
Ivan and me

The day before that I had lunch with Sonja. We were in Kovač Čarda where they make the best fish stew in the area. Again, good food, lovely time.

Maja's dad got us the tickets for Živko Anočić's new play, Kauboji (The Cowboys). September 20 is the day. I cannot fucking wait to see him on stage again! It's pure magic, I'm telling you. And hotness. And yeah, sure, he's also really good at what he does.

So you see, it's like I almost got myself a life.

Wednesday 3 September 2008

Hungry

I haven't eaten since 9am today. It's almost 7pm now. What I wouldn't give for

Monday 1 September 2008

Seriously.

I went to see my aunt today because when she came to see me on Saturday, I was asleep. Gimme a break, I travelled all night. So I went to see her and the conversation went something like this:
- How was it?
- Oh, so so good. I wish I could go back.
- Did you meet someone?
- I am. NOT. Having. This conversation.
- Why not? Did anyone fancy you?
- OMG. *inner headbang*
- Whaat?
- Look. The ones that fancied me I didn't fancy, OK? Same old, same old.
- Well, are you gonna be alone for the rest...
- OH MY GOOOOOD! I've been having this conversation all summer long, I am not having it now! I'll be leaving now, OK?
- Uh... yeah. Thanks for coming.
- Sure.
